The challenge
ExcelPack has supplied UK businesses for twenty-five years, and its store carries the catalogue to match: over 140 box sizes, 60 mailer sizes, 40 polythene lines and a wall of accessories, each with its own variants. Layered on top of that are bulk pricing tiers, an interactive designer for custom-branded packaging, and rule-based shipping. That combination is exactly where a WooCommerce build starts to strain — pricing tiers that disagree with the cart, variant counts that mislead, journeys that stall halfway to checkout. I did not build this store. I came in through the agency Feenix Digital because it was live, taking orders, and needed someone to fix it without ever taking it down.
The approach
The first job was diagnosis rather than design: tracing faults across the child theme, the tier-pricing extensions and the checkout, then fixing them on a store that was trading the whole time. Once it was stable, the work turned to extension — adding the features that were missing from the route between landing on a product and completing a bulk order, and smoothing the friction points that were costing the client orders rather than merely annoying people. Working inside someone else's build means every change has to respect decisions you weren't part of, so fixes went into the child theme rather than anywhere they could be lost at the next update.
What changed
- 01Existing defects traced and fixed on a live store, with no trading downtime
- 02New features built to smooth the route from product page to completed bulk order
- 03Friction removed across the ordering journey for a catalogue of 250+ variants
- 04Improved shopping experience reported by the client
- 05An increase in sales following the improvements
“We came to Muhammadh with a live store that had problems we couldn't get on top of ourselves. He worked through them without ever having to take the site down, then built the features we were missing. The checkout experience is much smoother now, and we've seen the difference in our sales.”
